The Indian Ocean had a full house for their Big Curry with staff getting fully into the spirit! Pat Champan, editor of The Good Curry Guide was there to support their tremendous effort.

Big Curry extreme

Big Curry went extreme this year with both The Tigers and Jump4Heroes taking things to the next level!

The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment’s Parachute display team known as “The Tigers” enjoyed a curry whilst leaping out of an aeroplane whilst Jump4Heroes BASE jumped off a mountain in Switzerland clutching their curry ration packs before tucking in at the bottom.

The bar is set hight for next year’s Big Curry!

Kingston Maurward College Big Curry 2010

Kingston Maurward College

A group of five Entry to Employment students cooked up a storm for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

As Suzanne Cross, life skills course tutor at the campus commented: “Many of our students on this programme want to join the armed forces after college and were very keen to do their bit to help servicemen.”

Of course Big Curry is the perfect way to do that!






Arborfield Peter Walker 2010

Arborfield Garrison

ABF The Soldiers’ Charities Bucks Committee raised a fantastic £1,425.98 on 22 April at Arborfield Garrison. A big thank you to all the staff at the Regimental Restaurant and all who took part.

St Georges School 2010

St. George’s School

The school celebrated both St. George’s Day and the Big Curry month this April, marking their support for our armed services. For a £1 donation staff and students were able to wear their own camoflage themed clothes.

Their Big Curry was cooked and served by a fully equipped army field kitchen, organised by WO1 Gary Scott, the father of one of their Year 7 students. The Catering Troop (RLC) from 2RTR set up on the rugby pitch and practiced cooking for an armoured regiment by doing lunch for 800+ students.

The schools own chef team Chris, Mark, Pete, and Lynda helped the army cook a great range of dishes including a vegetarian option, which students ate from mess tins on the field.
St. George’s School raised a whopping £2969.15!!

Sexeys School

Teacher Dave Hill at Sexeys School, Bruton Somerset organised a Big Curry which raised over £400. It was their first Big Curry and we hope the beginning of a great new tradition! They pass on their thanks to The Shepton Montague Inn and Wincanton Tandoori for their support.











BATUK 2010

British Army Training Unit Kenya

Si Russel, the Master Chef at the British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK), planned a Big Curry night for all of the BATUK staff.
The event was a huge success raising £780, a fantastic effort for a 50 person camp.
The guys of BATUK, their families and guests had a great night of quizzes and of course they sampled the many Curries Si prepared and cooked.
Si, a loyal supporter of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is now on another mission he is running a trip for a 10 man BATUK team to go to south Africa in June and meet the England team and watch one of their early matches. Si has also started to help the local Orphanage out during his stay in Kenya.





Ian Spurr 2010

Ian Spurr

Ian has been hosting a Big Curry for the past three years, planing the events with his wife and a friend. He organises his Big Curries in a local curry house The Balti Bhujon. In 2009 Ian raised £730 and has made huge inroads on that achievement by raising £1110 this year!
Ian is a veteran himself with gunner’s ear and does everything he can to support ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.









sodexo 2010

Sodexo, the Barrow-in-Furness site

The Sodexo Barrow-in-Furness site sold curry over two days and the red ABF The Soldiers’ Charity wristbands and badges over the week.In total they raised £630.66 and are hoping to raise even more next year!!
